So it's monday again and today I thought I'd show you some photos from the other day when we -- me, Julle and Uggi -- took some photos of the sunset in the cold. To get a better view with less trees obscuring the setting sun, I walked across the road -- and Julls and Uggi followed me.
This is pretty much the longest Uggi has ever been from home. And he made the most of it, sneaking up and down the stone wall, sniffing around and jumping at Julle. I had to pick him up twice after my fingers got so cold I wanted to get back indoors. The first time he struggled to get free and ran back to the stone wall. The second time I got a better grip and carried him all the way back. He's still too young to be running around near the road. It doesn't matter that Julls can do what he want, Uggi is still a kitten and will not be allowed to be out all alone in the dark. Especially not on the wrong side of the road.

The last pic is hilarious. The kitten is rather big. And I love love love that tail! Milka
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's the cutest and fluffiest tail of all! Time flies: it's not that long until his first birthday now. Not that we celebrate cat birthdays, but it does mean it's almost a year since that little fluffy furball was born. He's almost a big boy now.
DeleteIt is interesting that some black cats are brown when the sun is shining on them. Is it possible to see any tabby coloring on your cats? You have really many black cats. That's why I think you can answer my question. My cat is black, and sometimes brown but without any tabby marks. My mom had a similar black mog, but with tabby stripes visible in the sunshine. As far as I know, kittens show tabby marks and turn all black later. Kat Arina
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've seen any direct tabby colouring in the b&w ones. At least not the ones we have now, we have had black cats with almost invisible tabby stripes. As you say, some have markings as kittens and then it more or less disappear.
DeleteOur black cats tend to turn brownish, wholly or partially, during summer and then they shed the summer fur and turn pitch black in the autumn. It's a little like the fur is sun bleached (or much the same kind of colour change you can see in a naturally black- haired person who have lightly bleached the hair). Uggi started to turn a bit more brown some time ago, shedding some of that pitch black winter fur. But they don't always turn all brown(ish) -- we once had a cat whose body turned brownish in summer, but the head stayed a pure black. And the grey ones, especially Mini, also vary between pure greyscale when they get their winter coat and brownish grey during summer.
