Bead blog recap weeks 43-44

It's once again time for a recap of the last two weeks of writing at Manekis Pärlblogg. Bead-it-Forward beaded quilt project
Bead & Button has announced they are taking over the roll as manager of Jeanette Shanigan's popular charity project. The theme for the quilts being auctioned off in June 2012 is birds.

Elastic double hair combs
How to make your own versions of the beaded double hair combs sold under such names as EZ Combs and African Butterfly hair clips.

Brass journal pendants
How to make journals from brass (or other metal) blanks linked together with jump rings so you can actually flip through them. Plus a link to a fun project creating book pendants with paper.

Daily earring inspiration
There's a new blog for handmade artisan earrings, created by Heather Powers (Humblebeads) and including several talanted jewellery makers.

Project Accessory-inspired challenges and bead-alongs
The Project Runway spin-off has inspired beaders and jewellery makers to create challenges and make-alongs following the premier season of the new show Project Accessory.

Carve a wooden heart brooch
Learn how to whittle a heart shape from a forked branch, creating rustic brooches as seen in the photo above. The project doesn't include basics for wood carving, but links for beginners have been added.

In the US, the premier season of the Project Runway spin-off Project Accessory is now running. Similar in concept, this show focuses on jewellery and other accessories instead of clothes.
